Solar Energy

Our goal is to help you enjoy the environmental and economic benefits of going solar. We adopt a family-friendly approach that emphasizes accessibility, transparency, and efficiency so you can make well-informed decisions that let you own your own power.

Our process is built on the fact that no 2 homes are the same. That’s why we go the extra mile in learning about our clients, surveying their homes, and designing customized solutions that last for decades.

Our process consists of 8 simple steps:

  • Assess your current electric usage.
  • Draft a free custom design proposal.
  • Help you apply for 0 USD down financing upon credit approval by our bank
  • Conduct a site survey of your home.
  • Finalize a fully engineered design and pull permits with your jurisdiction.
  • Install your solar system in 1 – 2 days.
  • Serve as a resource for an inspection by your jurisdiction and utility company.
  • Celebrate with you when you turn your power on.

Assess your current electric usage.

First, you provide us with a copy of your electric bill. We use this to determine how much energy your home requires. If, at first, it looks like your solar bill will be roughly equal to your current electric bill, don’t worry. You still are on track to save money over time. This is because your solar bill will be fixed while the electric bill coming from your local utility company tends to increase by 3-6% annually.

Making the switch to solar from a traditional utility provider is much like purchasing a home after renting for years. If you rent your home from a landlord, your monthly rent will increase annually based on market conditions, and all you get in return is the opportunity to use the home (you won’t own it). If, however, you purchase your home through a fixed mortgage, you pay the same amount every month, it will not increase over time, and your payments will go toward ownership.

The electric charge of a home.
Some owners can produce 35% of their electricity from their solar systems. Others can produce 85%. And some produce well over 100%. It all depends on environmental factors, but no matter what, they are always connected to an energy resource to meet their electricity needs. Therefore, you may still receive a bill for any electricity you draw from the utility company plus any applicable connection fees.

Draft a free Custom Design Proposal.

Draft a proposal.

Once we’ve assessed your home’s electrical needs, we draft a free custom design proposal for your solar system. The most important thing to remember in this stage is that each home is different. With electricity consumption and exposure to sunlight varying from home to home, there is no set design or price for a solar system.

We take a close look at your rooftop, noting the space available and how much sunlight hits it. From there, we cross-reference that information with your electricity consumption to calculate how many solar panels your system should have. Our solar panels are secure on various types of roofs (e.g., metal, tile, composite shingle, flat roofs, etc.). The only types of roofs we do not install panels on are wood shake and clay tile roofs. Know that your system doesn’t have to live completely on the roof. If you have land space available, we can also install ground-mounted solar panels.

While some of our systems offer the capacity to go “off-grid”, our standard solar system is “grid-tied,” connecting you to the local utility company for additional electric needs. This is possible in areas where the utility company practices Net Metering. In this scenario, your solar system is your primary source of electricity, while your utility company acts as a backup “battery,” storing any surplus energy you produce through your panels. This surplus energy gives you a credit that you can use later when sunlight isn’t as abundant.

Help you apply for $0 down financing upon credit approval.

Our $0 down financing program is one of the main ways we make solar panel ownership easier than other providers in the market. We use our own in-home financing options or a 3rd party bank to connect you to loans specifically for residential solar systems. The first customer payment isn’t due until the 6th month after installation.

In order to qualify, applicants must have approved credit line , Additionally, they must be homeowners and have a qualifying debt to income ratio.  You can pay off the loan at any time with no prepayment penalties. By taking advantage of this financing opportunity, you help convert your electrical bill (something that you are already obligated to pay) into an asset-producing solar bill.

Get your solar panels financed.

Conduct a site survey of your home.

Get your home surveyed with our drones.

With the design proposal completed and the financing established, the next step is conducting an in-depth site survey. We send a Site Surveyor to your home where they take precise measurements for your custom-designed solar system.

We only install equipment on roofs that have at least 10 years of life remaining . Many past customers have had their roofs replaced in conjunction with their solar installation. By doing this, they were able to finance the roof replacement into the total project cost. Also, by installing a new roof at the same time as the solar system, the project is considered an “improvement for solar”. This helps you qualify for additional solar incentives on the cost of the roof.

Finalize a fully engineered design and pull permits with your jurisdiction.

Once the site survey concludes, we finalize a fully engineered design for your solar system and pull the appropriate permits with your local jurisdiction. The cost of permits, engineering, surveys, and inspections are all included in the initial proposal, so you don’t have to worry about additional administrative fees surprising you at this stage.

The only potential change orders resulting in a cost increase would be if…

  • Your roof needs to be replaced.
  • Your home’s main electrical panel is not up to code.
  •

Our install team includes licensed, trained electricians. That being the case, we can incorporate the cost of a Main Panel Upgrade into the total cost of the solar project.

Permitting timelines will vary based on the unique requirements of the specific city, jurisdiction, and utility company.

Most customers are able to power on their solar systems within 8-12 weeks after contacting Oorkou Energies

Have our in-house engineers inspect the installation plan.

Install your solar system in 1 - 2 days.

In-house installers putting in the work.

We understand that you want to enjoy your new solar system as quickly and painlessly as possible. That’s why we’re committed to securely installing your solar system in 1 – 2 days. We arrive with all the equipment and professionals we need to get the job done well. When we’re finished, we clear the site of all of our gear and restore your yard to the way we found it. In the end, the only evidence that we were there is the state-of-the-art solar panel system on your roof.

We attribute our speed to a few key practices. First and foremost, our entire labor team consists of all in-house employees. Furthermore, all of our installers and electricians carry the appropriate licensing, insurance, and bonds to operate in the jurisdiction, city, and state in question.

Serve as a resource for an inspection by your jurisdiction and utility company.

We design your solar system to be compatible with the local utility and compliant with all codes set forth by your jurisdiction. That’s why we act as a resource for personnel from the utility company and/or your jurisdiction throughout the installation process.

During this time, we’re happy to answer any questions they may have in the course of an inspection. We’ll acquaint them with the equipment and design noting that we provide 2 different types of warranties upon request to our service department:

  • Manufacturers’ equipment warranties
  • Labor warranties.
  • Electricians getting the solar panels connected.

The equipment we install comes with the manufacturer’s 25-year linear production warranty on the panels and a 25-year warranty on the inverters. A 10-year warranty is available for labor and roof penetration.

Additionally, we will route inspectors to the licenses, insurance policies, and bonds carried by our labor team.

Celebrate with you when you turn your power on.

Finally, with your system installed and inspected, you’re ready to power it on! From this moment on, you will keep all the power produced by your solar system, resulting in a reduced carbon footprint and increased financial savings for you.

Oorkou’s service to you doesn’t stop once your system is up and running. We maintenance support for the first 10 years following installation. Provided you have a reliable internet connection, we will also monitor your system , offering feedback on your usage and real-time serviceability.
